The Start Driving Stop Leukemia was first organized in 2013. The idea was borrowed from events that was typically done by motorcycle clubs for fun. The concept is simple.

The event revolves around playing a poker hand. The cards are obtained at five different stops along a pre-planned route. The participant with the best hand is the winner.

The first year, 2013 we had about 25 cars join us and we raised about $3000. Since then we have tweaked the event and it has grown organically over the past 6 years!

Since that first event with 25 cars we have grown to 110 cars in 2019 and raised over $53,000! What a journey, we never dreamed it would be this big. In fact, it could have been bigger, we had a waiting list of 10-15 that wanted to join us. Unfortunately, due to the nature of the event we cannot handle more cars in the present format.

We have always had sponsors but in the last two years we have expnaded opportunities for local businessed to participate at different levels. This has given a great finincial boost to the event. Our focus now is not to make the event bigger in terms of numbers but by growing our partnership/spoo

May of 2020 will be our seventh year and we look forward to it with great anticipation.
